Andrea Goodman, LCSW
licensed clinical social worker
Maybe you feel misunderstood and alone, keeping challenges to yourself? Andrea’s goal is to help clients feel safe and understood in a supported environment. As a licensed clinical social worker with an MA, MEd in Counseling Psychology, she brings years of experience to her practice, having worked with neurodivergent individuals (ASD, ADHD) across the lifespan, from teens through older adults. In addition, Andrea works with parents of neurodivergent adult children as well as couples where one or both identify as having ASD or ADHD. She is skilled in working with co-occurring mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, and communication skills for healthy relationships. The common thread in all of her work is helping clients maximize opportunities for growth and independence. Additionally, Andrea has a passion for helping neurodivergent individuals understand a diagnosis and how this influences their life experiences at all stages of life.
Andrea partners with clients in focusing on patterns of thinking and behavior that may be keeping them “stuck,” as well as those that help foster positive relationships. Client sessions are supportive, collaborative, and goal-oriented, using a style that combines therapeutic interventions along with coaching. She also has extensive work in the area of neurodivergence and employment, coaching employers in supporting neurodivergent employees as well as coaching individuals on success in the workplace. Together with clients, Andrea works on the “skills to pay the bills” while understanding how neurodivergence influences employment.
Andrea believes that everyone has strengths and talents, and works with clients in answering the question, “what do I want my life to look like?” Her approach is informed by positive psychology, ACT/CBT, motivational interviewing, and coaching supports to assist clients in reaching their goals. Real change rarely happens without challenge, and Andrea feels privileged to support clients on their journeys toward a more meaningful life.
